Teaching Tip
I put up a famous print in the room a week before I want to offically use it.
This way I get the children's curosity aroused. Because they wait, they want to know who the artist is, and why they made their picture.
When we discuss the picture we brainstorm ideas about the picture, and then I read a book about the artist or simply tell them who the artist is and why they made their picture.
Since I teach kindergarten, I then go through steps on how we can make a picture similar to the artists.
Do we need shapes?, color?, lines, etc.
Since no one has yet had the opportunity to say to my children, "You need to have talent to be an artist", I get some pretty awesome art work from my children as a follow up to my ptints that I use.
