Teaching Tip
Art history to some students is interesting while others find it "BORING". So, to grab all students attention, I usually start a lesson with a little strange information about an artist.
Making the artist real, opens the door.
Drawing on a table would get most kids in trouble, but look what it did for Picasso.
Seurat painted with sticks.
Look at Van Gogh's hair or his yellow house. Naturally the ear always grabs even the most stubborn student.
Finding these "strange but true" facts also is great for the teacher because it makes you delve more into the lives of artists yourself.
