Teaching Tip
I have students draw a self-portrait doing their favorite activity i.e. riding a bicycle, football, playing with a friend. After they are done, as a class we look at the pictures. Next I show pictures of children by various artists. We talk about the similarties and differences. Discussion also involves clothes, pets, and games. By comparing their work to other artists, student engage in meaningful discussion of art and thier world.
