ABOUT ANNIE: AGE 9
by Anitra Redlefsen, M.S.
Annie draws and paints with enthusiasm and energy. She seems to like the color mixing process and in the short amount of time that we spent on that concept, she seems to understand the basics of it well. She likes to work and experiment on her own; she takes in information quickly, makes a decision, and sticks to it. The twig and ink painting shows her willingness to learn something entirely new and to expand her experience with black and white (vs. color) values and something abstract rather than real. Her landscape composition is clean and simple, the painting is bold and expressive—– and excellent painting for her first one!
Annie is 9 years old and is in the 4th grade. She participates in many sports, including ice skating, swimming, basketball and softball. She likes Irish dance, and has won second and third place medals in some Irish Dance competitions .
This past summer, I mounted an exhibit for all of my summer students, Annie among them. The following is an interview that I had with Annie about this show.
