Written by: Ann Newton [Ann is a parent, teacher & artist, Connolly Primary School, Perth, Western Australia] |
Age: 2-5 years
Activity Summary:
Little ones can make musical shakers using old drink bottles and a few odds and ends.
What You Need:
•Small plastic drink bottles
•Bright coloured paints
•Paintbrushes
•Rice, pasta, sand etc.
What You Do:
- Children paint their drink bottle, by holding upside down with their hand on the lid.
- Encourage children to cover the whole bottle with different coloured paints.
- When dry, these can be filled with rice/uncooked pasta/coloured sand etc. A variety of materials is recommended, as this gives a variety of sounds.
These can then be used as musical instruments during music/movement activities
