Submitted by: Kimberly Vondran, a teacher from San Francisco, CA.
Skills/Objective:
Teaching about trees during the seasons.
What You Need:
Brown paint for the tree trunk
Colored paint for the leaves (fingerpaint or paint with a little soap will work so it is easier to wash off)
Paint Brushes or other objects to apply paint
What You Do:
Teachers, adults, or older friends may help younger children with this project in painting the childs arm.
Paint child's inner forearm, palm, and fingers.
Help child press arm and hand down on paper.
When arm is lifted you will have a tree trunk made from their arm and palm, and they will have branches made from their fingers.
The project could be left as a tree or when it is dry the child could decorate the branches by making leaves with their fingerprints and using diffent color fingerpaints for the leaves.
