Age: 2-5 years
Activity Summary:
This activity allows you to chart the weather with your students -- comparing the first of the month with the last of the month.
Did it come in like a lion and go out like a lamb -- or was the opposite true?
What You Need:
•Lion Printable (see below)
•Lamb Printable (see below)
• Markers or crayons
What You Do:
If March comes in like a lion, it will go out like a lamb.
- Bring up this old saying with your students to spark discussion about the weather in March.
- Talk about what the saying might mean.
ie: If March starts out cold and "ferocious", like a lion, it will end up warm and "gentle" like a lamb.
- Discuss what would make the weather "ferocious" like a lion? (rain, cold wind, storms, sleet, snow, etc.); What would make the weather "gentle" like a lamb? (sunshine, warm breezes, etc.)
- Take the opportunity to chart the weather with your students -- comparing the first of the month with the last of the month. Did it come in like a lion and go out like a lamb -- or was the opposite true?
