CARD BOXES
Grade: Middle School
Age:9+
Submitted by: Connie Miller, a teacher from Tennessee.
Objectives:
Recycling old christmas cards into gift boxes in the shape of house
What You Need:
- Old christmas cards.
- Thin satin ribbon.
- Glue.
- Hole puncher
What You Do:
- It will take 6 christmas cards to make 1 box.
- Take 5 of the christmas cards & glue the front & back shut using just a thin line of glue along the edge {the card that isn't glued will be the roof of the house}.
- Using a hole puncher, punch holes along each sides of the card except for the front flap of the card your using for the roof. This is so you can lift the card up & fill the box with goodies for gift giving.
- Lay your cards out on the table. The house will be long in length.
- To make the 2 sides long in length, turn the cards so they are long lengthwise.
- Start with using the card that will be the front of the house & one of the sides of the house, start lacing the cards together with the satin ribbon.
- Keep adding & lacing until your house is complete.
- By gluing the front & back of the cards together, you'll make a stronger gift box.
- This can be modified for younger children.
