PAPER PLATE CROWS
Written by: Amanda Formaro [Amanda Formaro is the crafty, entrepreneurial mother of four children. | www.craftsbyamanda.com]

Grade: K-6

Age: 5-12

Activity Summary:

Children can create crows using paper plates and paint.

Crows and ravens are symbols associated with Halloween.

Our crow is cute though, not scary, so make as many as you want!

What You Need:

  • 1 paper plate
  • Black craft paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Orange, black, and white construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Craft stick
  • Black marker
  • Tape
  • Pattern

What You Do:

  1. Turn paper plate upside down and paint backside black; allow to dry.
  2. Use pattern to cut out two black wings, white eyes and an orange beak.
  3. Use black marker to color in the eye pupils.
  4. Use glue stick to attach the beak to the bottom of the eyes.
  5. Glue the eyes and beak to the paper plate.
  6. Tape the wings to the back of the paper plate.
  7. Use the scraps from the black paper to cut out eyelids, use the eye pattern as a guide. Glue to the tops of the eyes.
  8. Cut a tuft of hair from the black paper and glue to the top of the paper plate, attach on the backside.
Tip: For a more fall type feel, make a scarecrow hat from tan construction paper and attach to your crow’s head.
