Objectives:

What You Need:

• 1 five inch RED shamrock (cut a shamrock from red paper)
• 2 pieces of white construction paper

What You Do:

1. Post the 2 pieces of white paper at eye level.

2. On one of the pieces of white construction paper paste the red shamrock.

3. Ask students to take turns staring at the red shamrock for 30 seconds.

4. Then have them stare at the plain white paper.

5. Later discuss what happened - A green shamrock appeared on the white paper - Explain to students that since red is the complementary color of green, staring at something red will cause you to see a green after image, not a Leprechaun trick after all!
